Vidraru lake & dam

Today I will take you to a beautiful place that is not so far from Bâlea lake.
This place is Vidraru lake and dam, it is situated in Romania, between Curtea de Argeș and Bâlea lake. Vidraru Lake is an artificial lake that was created in 1965 when the dam was built.
The construction of the dam started in 1960 on the Argeș river, and it was finished in five and a half years. For the construction, there were excavated 1,768 million cubic meters of rock and it required 42 km of tunnels.
At the moment of completion, the dam was situated in 8th place in Europe and on the 20th in the world based on its height.
Vidraru lake was created for energy production. The lake has 465 million cubic meters of water with a length of 10.3 km and a width of 2.2 km. The maxim depth of 155 m.

You can also enjoy the view from a boat. Also, you can do bungee jumping. Near the lake Vidraru, on Mount Pleașa there is a very beautiful statue representing Prometheus with a lightning bolt in his hand, the symbol of electricity.
Now that I told you about the lake and the dam, I hope the pics will do more than the words.
